SUPERB
NEW THICK PARALLEL PLANE IRONS
These superb new thick parallel plane irons are manufactured by Saxon Steels Ltd. of Sheffield who are an established company who specialise in manufacturing tool blades, machine knives, shear blades etc. They are made from carbon steel and hardened to 61-62 Rockwell's. They are also ground after hardening thus ensuring a mirror finish to the backs which is makes first sharpening a 2 minute operation rather than hours with some new blades you can buy. I have tried these blades out myself and can thoroughly recommend them. They come wrapped in wax paper.
Sizes available; 2" wide by 3/16" thick, 2 1/8" wide by 3/16" thick, 2 1/4" wide by 3/16" thick and 2 1/2" wide by 3/16" thick.
Also a 2 1/8" wide slightly thinner than 3/16" thick made specifically for late model Norris A5 smoothing planes. (A 3/16" thick blade won't fit a late model Norris A5 plane).
Also now a 2" wide slightly thinner than 3/16" thick blade made specifically for the Norris 51 smoothing planes. (A 3/16" thick blade won't fit a Norris 51 plane).
