Here we have an EXTREMELY RARE Scottish late 18th century beech plough by STEWART of Edinburgh. This has the rare feature of a brass thumb screw adjustable fence. It works by having hollow arms with a threaded rod inside. It is the same design as the plough plane found in the Seaton tool chest by Gabriel and pictured on page 32 of the Seaton book. As far as I am aware this is the only named 18th century Scottish example of this type of plough plane known.
