ADDIS, 20 GRAVEL LANE, SOUTHWARK. LONDON in very good little used condition.  2/ 3/8" No. 6 carving gouge by S. J. Addis of London with turned beech handle. 3/  Well used 1/8" carving gouge with turned beech handle (un-marked).

Good "War Time" Record of Sheffield No. 04 smoothing plane. The more unusual colour war time blue finish inside with original rosewood front knob and original beech rear handle. Almost full length original BEST CRUCIBLE CAST TUNGSTEN STEEL BLADE. Good clean metal. I've seen these war time Record planes before with different wood handles, I think during the shortages of war they were just using up available parts and obviously rosewood doesn't come from the UK !!

RARE coffin-shaped dovetailed steel "Closed Handle" smoothing plane by Mathieson of Glasgow. Gunmetal lever cap with rosewood infill including original fully enclosed rear handle. Almost full length probably original Mathieson blade. I think the front infill (bun) has been replaced a long time ago but it has been done very well although I think in walnut. A really nice plane that you don't see very often at all. These fully enclosed handle smoothing planes were much more expensive to purchase...
