19th century Spiers of Ayr coffin-shaped dovetailed steel smoothing plane in pretty decent condition for its age. Gunmetal lever cap with early small Spiers stamp and good dark rosewood infill including open rear handle. I have fitted a full length old replacement slightly tapering iron to the plane which produces a fine mouth.
