Pretty decent early Norris of London Registered Design A61 adjustable annealed iron smoothing plane with 2 1/4" wide blade. Unusually this plane is marked "Made in England" on the front under the registration number. Cast metal lever cap stamped 61 in the centre. Very nice walnut infill with no issues and no cracks. Almost full length un-marked thick parallel iron with original Norris back iron. 2" left to the slot. Probably an old replacement. 1913 patent adjuster. Good clean metal with no p...

RARE coffin-shaped dovetailed steel "Closed Handle" smoothing plane by Mathieson of Glasgow. Gunmetal lever cap with rosewood infill including original fully enclosed rear handle. Almost full length probably original Mathieson blade. I think the front infill (bun) has been replaced a long time ago but it has been done very well although I think in walnut. A really nice plane that you don't see very often at all. These fully enclosed handle smoothing planes were much more expensive to purchase...

April 2nd 1895 patent at the back. Very nice original rosewood handles with low front knob with no damage or cracks and near full length original blade. They don't come a lot better from this age. Fine basically unused Acorn, England No. 4 1/2 heavy large smoothing plane. All the original red finish with golden beech handles with original transfer and full length original blade. The handle bears the label CHAPMAN TOOLS by STANLEY which indicates this plane was produced shortly after Stanley took over Acorn in the last 1930's. Slight pitting to the sole otherwise like new.
