Good clean 1920's Spiers of Ayr dovetailed steel 13 3/4" long panel plane in very good original condition. Cast gunmetal lever cap with spiers of Ayr in relief with very nice grained rosewood infill with fully enclosed rear handle. Good length original thick parallel Spiers iron and backing iron. This is a really nice example and a bit heavier than usual. 18th century 9 5/8" long curved edge type moulder with very nicely added mahogany fence. There is a makers name on the plane but it is very hard to read, it might be (and I stress might) ALLANS. Lovely early shape wedge and a gorgeous colour. Near full length original thin iron. Some minor old damage ner the rear but basically pretty good for its considerable age.
