As far as I was aware Robert Sorby didn't make a number 3 size plane or a compass plane so I don't know what this blade was for other than competition for Stanley and Record in the spare blade market. Near full length thick parallel iron by Robt Sorby produces a fine mouth. Slight pitting to the sole. Pretty good condition for a plane of this age I would say.
