Good early, definitely 19th century, 13" long Scottish cast metal panel plane. Nice shape casting with gunmetal lever cap and screw and nicely moulded walnut infill. The front bun is a lovely shape with a boxwood striking button in the centre. The rear infil has a large enclosed handle with some relief carved decoration. The plane comes with its original thick 2 1/2" wide Mathieson parallel iron which produces a good mouth. The plane is in good condition for its age with no significant proble...

Good early Scottish traditional pattern cast metal smoothing plane. Curved, cove moulded front with curved rear. Gunmetal lever cap with nice shape double knurled screw. Very nice over-stuffed dark rosewood infill with fully enclosed rear handle with full spur. Good length thick slightly tapering iron by Hearnshaw Brothers of Sheffield which is cast steel.
